The
port at Berwick-upon-Tweed is operated by
W.N.Lindsay Ltd. The operation was acquired shortly after the war and has been managed by WNL
ever
since.
Tweed dock
is
primarily
a
gateway
to the
agricultural
heartland
of the
Borders
and
Northumberland
and as
such
handles
significant
tonnages
of
fertiliser,
feeding
stuffs
and
grains.
Vessels
up to
3500 DWT
can be
accommodated
at the
port
New
bagging
facilities
have
recently
been
installed
to allow
significant
tonnages
of bulk
goods to
be
bagged
before
export.
Investment in shed space and
handling equipment has allowed a greater breadth of cargoes to be handled including
bagged
cement, stone, timber, tyres and turbine blades.

service.
